RAPID COAT DIVISION
COMPANY PROFILE’

Ajit Gupta, graduated from I.I.T. Kharagpur in engineering in 1970 and worked in England. The spirit of entrepreneurship brought him back to India in 1974, to set up Rapid Engineering Company Pvt. Ltd. to manufacture plastic products like polyethylene bags, followed by monofilament yarn and box strapping, etc. Enormous stress is laid on continual quality improvement and increasing customer satisfaction. The buyer is king in our organization. Presently we are the manufacturer of Powder Coatings, Microfine Plastic Powder, Roto Moulding Powder.
1) In 1986 we diversified into LDPE Powders, at Okhla, for dip coating & fluidized bed coating on wire fabricated articles, like refrigerator shelves, fusible interlining fabric, carpet backing and rotational moulding. This business kept growing and we added another unit in 1995 at our Sahibabad factory. We now have 3 extruders for coloring and 4 pulverising mills with vibro-sieves, grinders and other necessary ancillary equipment. The total installed capacity is over 100 tons / month.
2) Rapid Roto Division: In 1989 we started using our own powders for manufacturing Rotationally Molded Plastic Water Storage Tanks with a capacity range from 100 to 2000 liters. A second line was added in 1991. This business is going on very well till date. We also manufacture large roto-moulded loudspeaker enclosures and custom mouldings.
3) In 1991 we added Rapid Coat brand of Epoxy & Polyester Thermoset Powder Coatings, at Okhla, with the help of CESO, Canadian technical know-how. These powders are used for electrostatic coating on metal components and sheet metal articles.
4) Rapid Coat Division: In 1995 we added a second line for Epoxy / Polyester Powder Coatings at our Sahibabad factory with a very well equipped laboratory.
A third line was added in 2003 and a fourth line in 2005 and fifth line in 2007 and sixth line in 2008. Replaced one older line with high capacity line including 30ACM in 2010. Present installed capacity is approximately 600 tons per month. We now have 6 twin-screw co-rotating extruders with cooling belts and kibblers, 10 ACM pulverising mills with pollution control equipment, 3 mixers and 4Mixaco Type Mixers.
5) In 2002/3 we shifted the Okhla factory to consolidate both at Sahibabad. Both the factories are located in clean authorized prime industrial areas and we are equipped with adequate power, two Gensets- Cummins 380 KVA & Caterpillar 600 KVA as power back-up, water supply, telephones, computers, raw materials, finished goods, excellent machinery and laboratory equipment, spare parts and above all, a highly motivated & dedicated work force and staff. A dedicated and committed team of highly qualified engineers and workers are able to ensure consistent high quality and deliveries on time leading to a high level of customer satisfaction.
6) Our laboratory has an Alpine air jet sieve and also Laser Particle Size Analyzer for particle size analysis; Hunterlab computerized color matching spectrophotometer with Easy Match software, Melting point apparatus, Precision weighing scales, Impact tester, Ericsson Cupping, Scratch & Bend-test, Salt spray test, Coating Thickness & Gloss Measurement. We also have Atlas Weatherometer Suntest CPS+ (Xenon Arc) +QUV Weatherometer for testing outdoor stability (U.V) of our products. The Lab is equipped with its own mixer, small extruder, mill, coating guns, booth and oven etc, for R&D and QC work.
7) Sales: We are pleased to inform you that we have over 300 satisfied customers country-wide, who use our powders to coat articles ranging from the simplest, smallest to the most complex and demanding, in different colors, finishes and compositions to suit various applications. Apart from our Regd. office at Okhla, New Delhi, we carry out sales from our Sahibabad factory and also from our own sales office at Saki Naka, Mumbai. At present we have distributors in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin, Calcutta, Baroda, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Calicut, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad & Aligarh. More are in the process of being finalized.
8) Exports: Our coating powders are being exported through our distributors in Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar, Russia and also to customers in Peru, Colombia, Suriname, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, Cyprus, Oman, U.A.E., Dubai, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, South Korea etc.
9) ISO Quality Certification: In July’03 our manufacturing units were awarded ISO 9001: 2008 certification by TUV Suddeutschland.
10) Annual Turnover: Our current annual turnover is approximately Rs. 60 crores (US$ 13 M).
