Regal wurde 1954 gegründet und gehörte mit seinen druckfest gekapselten Cemp®-Elektromotoren zu den ersten Unternehmen in Italien, die druckfest gekapselte Motoren herstellten. Im Laufe der Jahre wurde die Produktpalette um druckfeste Motoren mit Bremse, elektrische Pumpen für Druckmaschinen, druckfeste Motoren für Gase der Gruppe IIC und für den Bergbau erweitert. Im Jahr 1998 trat Cemp in eine neue Wachstumsphase ein und schloss sich einer großen Gruppe privater Investoren an. Im Jahr 2000 erwarb das Unternehmen Atav (heute Cemp France), ein französisches Unternehmen, das sich auf kleine druckfest gekapselte Aluminiummotoren spezialisiert hat. Im November 2007 wurde Cemp von der ABG Group übernommen, sieben Jahre später fusionierte Cemp mit Regal.
