Die Fabrik in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel gilt als eine der modernsten Produktionsstätten der Welt und ist ein Aushängeschild erster Güte am Medizintechnik-Standort Hamburg. Der Bereich „Retouren & Recycling" wurde bei Philips Medical Systems DMC im Jahr 1999 gegründet. Seitdem ist die Summe der aufgearbeiteten und wiederverwendeten Materialien eines Röntgenstrahlers stetig angestiegen und beträgt heute bis zu 70 %. Die Produktkomponenten der Röntgenstrahler werden aufbereitet und der Strahlerfertigung wieder zugeführt. Sie ersetzen damit Neuteile, die energieintensiv und aus hochwertigen Materialien hergestellt werden müssten. Um den steigenden Recyclingbedarf von Röntgenstrahlern begegnen zu können, wurde der Bereich „Retouren & Recycling" erweitert. Hierfür wurde eine bestehende Produktionshalle aufgestockt und zusätzliche Anlagen für das Recycling beschafft. Damit ist Philips Medical Systems DMC auch zukünftig in der Lage, die aus hochwertigen Materialien bestehenden Teile eines Röntgenstrahlers wiederzugewinnen, aufzubereiten und der Produktion neuer Strahler zuzuführen.
