Die „Schalke Locomotives GmbH“ ist eine hundertprozentige Tochter der kanadischen „Nordic Minesteel Technologies Inc.“ (NMT) aus North Bay, Ontario. Diese hat neulich das Geschäftsfeld Schienenfahrzeuge der „Schalker Eisenhütte Maschinenfabrik GmbH“ gekauft, die bereits in den vergangenen Jahren mit NMT schienengebundene Transportsysteme für den untertägigen Bergbau entwickelt und vertrieben hat. Die „Schalke Locomotives GmbH“ wird den Markennamen SCHALKE für Schienenfahrzeuge weiterführen. Weiterhin gehören Sonderfahrzeuge für den Schienenpersonennahverkehr zum Lieferprogramm.
