We develop, produce and sell top quality German engineered capacitors for use as motor caps (for white goods, pumps, single phase motors, climate controls, ventilation,…), in HID lights, and power caps for use in frequency converters, for reactive power compensation in plants and filter capacitors for e.g. UPS systems or frequency converters.
The company HYDRA exists for more than 100 years and did start with capacitors from the very beginning so that there is really long time experience and knowledge about this product and its applications. Founded 1899 in Berlin, HYDRA became part of AEG group as of 1925, today's HYDRA a.s. in 1998 has been re-started as a management buyout as private owned independent company focused on capacitor business. The Management together with Sales&Marketing as well as application engineering still is located in Berlin/Germany - so the long tradition of German engineering is kept.
We produce in our Czech Republic factory with around 150 people working and started production in January 2014 in our new factory in Vietnam. - it is our own HYDRA factory, not a joint venture or cooperation and we have installed same QM system and some production processes to keep up our high quality level. Around 175 people are today working there.
With our consumer products we today are market leader in white goods - we supply to most of the market leaders who are very satisfied with our products. Today's prodcution output is around 28 million capacitors per year. For industrial use we supply several product lines of DC link, low voltage reactive power compensation- and filter capacitors for use in frequency converters, comensation plants, UPS systems etc.

We have a production that is highly efficient with totally controlled processes and 100% testing in all relevant steps of production so that we can really say quality is on a permanently controlled top level. Also we can offer our customers high flexibility in producing even customer specific versions when qty is good enough and due to having big development staff creating new things in short time.
All our caps are made of metallized polypropylene foil which is best technology for capacitors, and many other details like own designed machines for core production steps, centering of the capacitor winding and having our own 'cocktail' of oil, gas or resin filling, set us apart from our competitors.

Highest lifetime (especially in comparism to often used electrolytic capacitors in frequency converters), lowest failure rate and as a result highest availability of your product.
