The BSH is a higher federal authority within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV). It is the public institution for maritime tasks. This concerns tasks such as averting dangers at sea, issuing official nautical charts and surveying tasks in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, as well as forecasting tides, water levels and storm surges. Nordwest-Funk wurde am 06.03.1992 von Thomas Eissing gegründet. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt verkaufte Nordwest-Funk GmbH Autotelefone, Betriebsfunkanlagen, Alarmanlagen usw. und führte entsprechend die Installationen durch. Der Firmensitz war zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch in der Hansastraße in Emden.
Ende 1993 zog Nordwest-Funk GmbH zusammen mit der H. E. Eissing KG in das neue Firmengebäude von Thomas Eissing im 2. Polderweg 18. Im gleichen Zeitraum wurde auch die Firma Nordwest-Elektronik von Johannes Eissing, deren Firmensitz hauptsächlich in Bremen war, übernommen. Nordwest-Elektronik, Großhändler und Importeur von Schiffselektronik, war zu diesem Zeitpunkt Generalimporteur z. B. für Apelco, Shakespeare, Tecsup usw. Dieses Portfolio wurde von nun an im neuen Firmensitz in Emden unter dem Firmennamen Nordwest-Funk vertrieben, die Fa. Nordwest-Elektronik wurde liquidiert. Das Büro in Bremen wurde anschließend geschlossen.
